Magical MomentsLoren SlocumThe Slocum's Give Back

It was 1989, Loren Slocum was invited by a friend to join a group of people at a home to assemble baskets of food and deliver them to those in need. Little did she know that by accepting the offer she was becoming a part of Foundation history; Loren was participating in the first TARF International Basket Brigade at the home of Tony Robbins. The event not only was the meeting ground for Loren and her future husband, Shore, but also began a love of contribution that would never be extinguished.

Loren carries passion for the Foundation in her heart. "I wouldn't be where I am today without the Foundation." She met her husband, had her kids, and was given so many wonderful opportunities that she is forever grateful for. Today she gears her passion towards transforming the lives of Mom's and children. Transformations are her way of giving back, "...a way to leave a legacy that inspires Mom's and kids to cherish who they are to not focus on what they're doing but whom they are being." Her motivation to make a difference has lead to the publication of her book, "The Greatest Love: Being an Extraordinary Mom". In Loren's grand tradition of Foundation support she will be donating $5.00 from the sale of each book to TARF. Thank you Loren! We look forward to a lifelong collaboration and friendship with you and all of our faithful Foundation supporters!

Last month Shane, a member of your Foundation team, had the opportunity to witness TARF Youth Mentoring Program from an insider's point of view. Shane joined the group of mentors which include: a community or business leader, an academic advisor and a high school senior or college student. The Mentors shared that they have seen vast improvements in attitude and self esteem since TARF Youth Mentoring Program was implemented in their community. The students expressed that they have gained valuable self confidence and a better understanding about what it takes to be a leader.

During a recent mentoring session a group of participants, most from low-income families, STEPPED UP to organize a school food drive for less fortunate individuals. Their selfless act was a demonstration of the leadership skills and genuine compassion that are cultivated through this program. As the TARF mentoring modules continue to develop through CANI (Constant and Never-Ending Improvement) we hope to have the chance to bring this unique Mentoring curriculum to youths throughout the world.

Recently one of your fellow supporters approached the Foundation with a desire to help in the strides being made by TARF to better the lives of underprivileged individuals. She said that she, "had learned so much through her Tony Robbins" experiences and is eager to give back. But how, she wondered? She chose to run the London marathon and raise funds for her efforts to be directed back to TARF. You too can help us increase the reach of our philanthropy by becoming a fundraiser for the Foundation. Whether you are running a marathon, a 5k or embarking on a 10 day health challenge, you can gain support for your dedication and raise funds at the same time. It truly is fun to create your very own fundraising page through FirstGiving.com. Invite your friends and family to visit your site where they can share in your excitement and support your hard work. The funds collected on your site will be sent directly from Firstgiving.com to TARF. Together we can create exponential growth through our community of supporters dedicated to reaching new heights of contribution. Together, we are creating change!
